Books Every DJ Should Have In Their Mix
Read time 4 minutes
Books won’t teach you how to DJ.
They just won’t.
Just like riding a bike.
You learn by getting on and falling a few times before you start to figure it out.
You know what I mean…
The thrill of searching for the next track with only 30 seconds left on the current one.
Heart racing with sweat dripping down your cheek while trying to keep a straight face that screams…
“Don’t worry I’ll find something?!”
And somehow…
You always do.
Messy transition or not.
Moments like those are what force you to step up and improve.
They build character and confidence.
The energy and feedback from a live crowd are unmatched in refining your DJ skills.
That being said, there’s still a place for books.
Whether you just want to learn some new techniques or better understand the history of the artform…
Books can help.
Heck, maybe your just fond of a good story and the history of DJing and dance music has plenty of them.
So without further delay!
I made a list on Amazon of my favorite DJ books.
Some are technical.
Some are philosophical.
Some are historical.
All of them are good.
It’s only 7 of them but they are all worth a read.
Take a look and see if anything piques your interest! 👇️
Catch up next Thursday!

Damn it Roland…really? Another tiny cute sampler I don’t need but want.
If you miss Myspace…this new app might fill that void for you.
If you create video content. You gotta read this.
I’m hoping this documentary on Ron Hardy - one of the Godfathers of House music - gets made.
My new Spotify playlist - Hidden House Gems has been updated with a few more trax. ⬇️
