Confession...

I was afraid no one would join.

“Oh shit, someone responded to my email and wants more info…”

That was my first thought when I saw the reply in my inbox.

A few weeks ago, I casually made an offer in the P.S. of this newsletter…just to see if anyone would bite. I didn’t draw much attention to it. I just tossed it out there into the universe.

The next day, someone replied asking for more info about The Daily Draft Club.

I threw an idea out there to see if anyone would catch it, and now I’m getting some early signal. Nice!

That’s a lesson in itself: validate first, then create.

Honestly…I was kinda terrified that nobody would join or reply.

The Daily Draft Club was my first paid offer.

Part of me kept wondering:

"What if I'm wrong?”

“What if perfectionism isn't actually the problem I think it is?”

“What if producers don't need this?”

But then I think about a track I put out in 2017 called "Watch Me Work."

Taste Taster and I put that track together across 3 sessions. Maybe 8-10 hours total. Zero pressure. Just having fun. We emailed the stems back and forth a couple times and that was it.

That "casual" creation has generated over $72,000 in sync money (Apple, Netflix, and HBO have all synced the track) and is currently going viral on Instagram.

Meanwhile, I have hard drives packed with tracks I spent months "perfecting" that have done diddly squat for me.

The brutal truth: The more you create and release, the luckier you get.

I will die on this hill because as unpredictable and random finding success in music can feel, how much music you make and release is 100% within your control.

Today is Day 3 of The Daily Draft Club.

We’ve got a solid crew in the mix, and everyone’s showing up and doing their best to put together at least one new musical idea a day (it’s harder than it seems).

We live!

In 30 days I have no doubt that everyone will make much more music than they would have without the sprint AND have a handful of tracks they find inspiring enough to release.

Because it’s not just about making music, that’s the first part.

You also have to release it. The music has to touch people.

Keep in mind releasing your music in 2025 does not have to be this “big” event (but that’s another topic for another email).

So if you’ve been sitting on any ideas that you think have potential (could be music, business, whatever)…SHARE THEM WITH THE WORLD.

2 things will happen when you do:

• You’ll either get some validation that others might care and appreciate your idea. Great! Now you can move forward with some confirmation and confidence.

• Or you find that no one cares and you save yourself from investing time and energy into something that no one wants. This is also great! This means you can move on to validating your next idea. Because, as they say in sales, every NO is one step closer to a YES as long as you don’t stop.

You got this.
