Making 100 videos was hard but letting go of the old me was harder.

Through the grind of writing, video editing, and connecting ideas via short-form video, I discovered something unexpected…

This was a new way to express myself outside of music.

Another space to create freely.

When I started making content I was trying to redefine my niche.

I made videos on:

  • A.I.

  • Production tips

  • Content creation

  • Random music facts

  • Artist business moves

  • And more!

But ironically, it was the DJ content that went the most viral.

Almost every time.

What can I say, I know my people.

I’m grateful that my videos resonated, inspired, and sparked conversation.

But here’s the thing…

Is a DJ who doesn’t DJ still a DJ?

I’ll forever love DJing and music production, but honestly…

I’m not doing much of either these days.

Instead, I’m focused on building my short-term rental hospitality brand with my wife.

And between looking for real estate deals and deep diving into direct response marketing (my current obsession)…

Music has taken a backseat.

I’m 39 now.

The current life expectancy for males in the United States is 74.8 years.

That means I might have less than 50% of my life left!

That’s a sobering thought.

And I want to make what I have left count.

So what does that look like?

In 2025 I’ll be exploring more topics outside of music and DJing.

Interests outside of my comfort zone and what I’m currently known for.

Because anything worth learning takes years to master.

And mastering something and sharing those lessons is half the reason to do the thing.

Currently, I’m excited about growing brands, marketing, and helping other creative entrepreneurs do the same.

If you’ve been following me for a long time or know me personally, none of this might surprise you.

If you’re new around here, I’m confident you’ll find value in the ideas I share.

But if you decide to not stick around, that’s okay—I won’t take it personal.

My identity has been wrapped up with music and DJing for so long it’s been difficult to expand it.

To question it.

To rebrand it.

But I feel a disconnect between the content I’m making and what I’m actually doing on a regular basis.

And so I find myself faced with a dilemma…

I either make no content…

Or I create content that reflects what drives me and where my interests are right now.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned making 100 videos in 2024, it’s this:

Your identity isn’t fixed.

Sometimes, the hardest part of growth is letting go of the things that once defined you.

The scary part isn’t starting something new—it’s staying stuck in something that no longer feels right.

Talk soon.
