How to make consistent content

Read time: 5 minutes

Struggling to churn out content consistently?

You're not alone.

I committed to making 100 short-form videos this year.

That’s 8.3 videos per month. Let’s round it up to 9 to be safe.

That means I need to release at least 2 videos a week and ideally 3.

But we have a problem…

I've only dropped 3 videos in the past two weeks. Not good!

Why?

I was in a creative rut and wasn’t sure what to create.

It sucks but it’s going to happen.

However, there are ways to get back in the game and stay motivated.

Today, I'm breaking down my 3 steps to keep the content flowing.

Let's dive in:

Step 1: Have an idea bank.

This one is so simple, you have no excuse.

Have one central location for all your ideas.

I prefer digital, but if you want a physical notebook, that would be better than nothing.

Here is what my idea bank looks like:

Step 2: Have a digital content planner.

This is how you organize yourself once you start working on your ideas.

The truth is, some pieces of content will take a few hours and some will take days.

I'm all about Kanban boards. Watching tasks go from "in progress" to "completed" is super satisfying.

This is what mine looks like:

I can tap on each item, which then opens up a window where I keep my research, photos, links, and drafts.

Step 3: Leverage themes and formats for consistency.

My approach to Instagram is like being the director of my own TV show.

Currently, I'm all about experimenting while churning out video after video and trying different styles along the way.

I’m looking for formats, sketches, and segments that resonate with my followers.

Once you find a few that work, rinse and repeat!

You just keep remixing your best video types.

My 3 Genres video is a great example. My followers enjoy it, and I like creating it.

That’s it!…kinda.

The truth is, no matter how efficient or dialed in your system is…

There will be times when you feel lazy or uninspired.

In those moments, I take a break.

I go for a walk, read a book, hang out with friends, etc.

I might not work on anything related for a few days if I have to.

Without fail, taking a break and coming back refreshed lets me approach my ideas with new clarity and energy.

I also frequently sift through my idea bank for bursts of inspiration. Capturing a video while riding that wave of inspired energy often leads me straight to the finish line quickly.

For now this is the most efficient way I’ve been able to consistently create content.

Write me back if you have any questions about the process.

Also, if I gave out my Notion template, would that be of interest?

Let me know, thanks!
