How To Organize Your Digital Life
Read Time: 4 minutes
Building a 2nd brain changed everything for me.
What is a 2nd brain?
A 2nd brain is a digital archive where you save everything you want to keep for later.
Like a digital filing cabinet for your life.
We’re bombarded with so much information that it can become overwhelming.

I would highlight an article, take a screenshot, save a song, etc…
But then it would all get lost and forgotten about.
Setting up a 2nd brain changed that.
It helped me organize all the digital clutter I come across daily.
It’s how I stay organized with everything I consume.
My 2nd brain helps me write this newsletter.
It also helps me make content and come up with unique ideas and insights.
In 2024, the ability to absorb and understand a lot of information is like having a superpower.
People who can process more information than others can make unique connections and spot opportunities that others might overlook.
Simple steps to set up a 2nd brain:
1. Choose Your Tools: Pick a digital note-taking app (like Evernote, Notion, or OneNote) to store and organize your information.
2. Create Categories: Set up folders or tags for different types of information (e.g., articles, ideas, contacts, projects).
3. Capture Information: Start saving anything useful you come across—articles, screenshots, quotes, ideas, etc. Use web clippers, photo capture, and text notes.
4. Organize Regularly: Take some time each week to review and organize your saved items. Move them into the appropriate categories and add tags if needed.
5. Review and Use: Regularly go through your 2nd brain to find and use the information you’ve saved. Make it a habit to refer back to it for projects, content creation, or problem-solving.
6. Refine and Improve: As you use your 2nd brain, refine your categories and organization system to make it more efficient for you.
That’s the gist of it!
It takes some initial effort to start up but I’m telling you once it’s up and running it’s amazing.
I personally use Notion. It’s very customizable and doesn’t require any coding or anything like that.
Some things I save and organize in my 2nd brain:
• Screenshots
• Content ideas
• My dog vet visits
• Car mechanic repairs
• Initial newsletters drafts
• Favorite Youtube videos
• Tracks I’m currently working on
• Receipts from my real estate business
• Highlights from books I read in my Kindle
+ many more!
My 2nd brain helps streamline my workflow, keep me organized, and enhances both my productivity and creativity.
Give it a shot it could totally do the same for you!
Also let me give credit where credit is due here.
This entire concept I learned from Tiago Forte. He has a course, a book, and a great YouTube channel on this topic.
He can explain everything in much more detail if it’s something you might be interested in. Check him out!
We have a lot of goodies below, including my new Mary J. Blige remix!
